On the Metro after a great day in DC! Kids are texting their friends back home about the experience. Our last stop included an Ethiopian eatery and a visit to the African American Civil War Memorial.
We walked the U street district near historically black Howard University where jazz greats like Lewis Armstrong performed.
The mood all over the city is festive. It feels like the fourth of July in January! One lady riding by repeatedly shouted "Thank You Jesus!" The crowd standing on the street smiled and cheered with approval.
